Spiritual Direction

Within each of us lies the desire to find meaning beyond the moment … to discover our true selves … to grow closer to God and to one another. Spiritual Direction is not about being “directed”, rather it is very much about being encouraged to draw closer to God. Trinity has a Spiritual Director who can help you satisfy that longing.

Our Spiritual Director also offers the following:

The Dream Group

The dream group is made of people who want to understand themselves by understanding their dreams. Dreams come from our subconscious and our subconscious is trying to tell us things for our own well being despite their sometimes bizarre nature. Some people call dreams the language of God. Others say that it is only our very best thinking at work. In either case, it pays to remember and pay attention to them because they can guide us and teach us even when they are scary. The dreams group usually meets every other week in the early afternoon. We schedule our meetings a month at a time.

Centering Prayer

The fundamental purpose of prayer, including the prayer of petition, is not to get something from God, or to change God, but to change ourselves. We pray in order to give ourselves to God. We pray in silence asking for God’s direction. The Centering Prayer group, using a method developed by Fr.Thomas Keating, gathers on Thursday afternoons at 1:30.

Ignation Studies

The Ignatian Method -- named after Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556) -- is a sort of virtual experience of the scripture. You use your imagination to enter into the reading, asking yourself ...

What do I see and hear? What do I smell, taste, or touch?
Who are the characters and what's going on with them?
If I were in this movie, what role would I play?
If I were Jesus in this story, what would I be thinking, feeling, saying?

In the Ignatian Method, you enter into the story so that you can learn more about and participate more fully in the mind, the heart, and the work of Christ.
