Announcements May 11, 2008 Weekly Calendar :: Office Hours WELCOME VISITORS! Please sign our guest register or a visitor card this morning. We're glad to have you with us today. We invite you to participate fully in worship with us. At Communion, please come forward to the altar rail, or the base of the steps, or ask an usher to alert us that you would like the Sacrament bought to you. After the service, please join us for refreshments in the Reception Area where we can greet you more personally. All children are welcome at our services. A nursery is available, if desired, for children under 4 years, from 8 am until after the 10:15 am service. VISITORS: We encourage you to take a copy of our current newsletter and our Annual Report home with you today to learn more about our activities at Trinity. They may be found on the table in the Narthex, just inside the front doors. BIRTHDAY PRAYER: Oh God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor on your servants as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen their trust in your goodness all their days; though Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. BLANKET SUNDAY SCHEDULED FOR MAY 4 & 11: Our Annual Tools & Blanket Program will be held in conjunction with Mother's Day this year. Members from the Outreach Committee will have certificates and cards available following both services on those two Sundays. You may honor your mother or some other special person in your life with a donation to Church World Service. For $5 you can wrap a refugee child in a warm blanket…for $175 a family-sized tent can shelter a family which has fallen victim to a natural disaster. PENTECOST SUNDAY: Remember to wear red next Sunday, May 11 to symbolize the Holy Sprit and the Tongues of Fire. Join us as we celebrate this day on which the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, gathered in an upper room, "as a mighty, rushing wind". The Holy Spirit gave the apostles gifts of grace through which they would undertake the evangelical mission of the Church. They were given the miraculous "gift of tongues" so that everyone from every country understood the Christian message of salvation as if they were hearing it in their own languages. UTO: We have scheduled our SPRING In-gathering of the United Thank Offering for Sunday, May 18th. You can help make the UTO ripple effect a reality by using your Blue mite box regularly and turning in your collected pennies and nickles twice each year. These coins, as ripples of thanksgiving, make WAVES of outreach throughout the world. Supplies for the UTO are available in the Narthex and the Reception Area of the church. I encourage each of you to use your mite box with prayers of thanksgiving daily throughout the year. TRINITY SUNDAY, MAY 18: Join us on Trinity Sunday, as we give thanks for the community we are here at Trinity! On this day, we will recognize our Sunday School teachers, celebrate our life as a congregation and enjoy our traditional “Trinity Sunday Sundaes”. Continuing the gift of Kathy and Harold Smith (temporarily in Minnesota for Harold's treatment), our Stewardship Committee will provide the Sundaes for us. LUNCH BUNCH: The lunch bunch will meet at 11:30 am on May 22 at Mr. Steak in St. Charles, 2731 Veteran's Memorial Parkway. Mark your calendars and plan to join them! EASY FUND RAISING WITH ESCRIPT: An easy way you can support Trinity's programs and operations is the eScript program. It is a national fund raising program that earns 1% of all purchases made at Schnuck's for Trinity Episcopal Church. Just present the Schnuck's eScrip card every time you buy groceries at Schnuck's. The 1% is automatically sent to Trinity. To enroll, pick up an eScrip card at any Schnuck's, Call the number on the card or log onto www.eScrip.com to get signed up.
